Can anybody do online school in Nevada?
Online school is available to most students, but there may be specific eligibility requirements depending on your age, grade level and residency. ThrivePoint High School serves Nevada students in grades 9-12 and offers flexible online learning options.
If you have questions about whether online school is right for you, our enrollment team can help you determine your eligibility.
Can you enroll in an online school at any time in Nevada?
Yes! ThrivePoint High School offers open enrollment, meaning you can start at any time throughout the year. Our flexible scheduling allows students to begin courses when it’s most convenient for them rather than waiting for a traditional semester start date.
What makes an online school accredited in Nevada?
An online school is accredited when it meets the academic and operational standards that recognized accrediting organizations set. Accreditation ensures that the school provides a high-quality education, follows state curriculum guidelines and offers diplomas that colleges, employers and other institutions recognize.
ThrivePoint High School is accredited in the state of Nevada, meaning our courses meet rigorous educational standards and our graduates receive a diploma that is widely accepted.
Is online school free in Nevada?

As a state-funded school, we provide a high-quality online education at no cost to Nevada residents in grades 9-12. However, some optional programs or materials may have associated fees. What is a ThrivePoint Student Success Coach?
A Student Success Coach is a dedicated, personalized mentor who provides one-on-one academic support, guidance and advocacy for our high school students, helping them navigate their educational journey through holistic coaching and individualized strategies. At ThrivePoint High School, we are passionate educators who meet with students weekly to empower them to identify, build and achieve their academic and personal goals by offering comprehensive support, communication and resources tailored to each student's unique needs.
Why is ThrivePoint’s enrollment process different from other schools?
Local schools serve one district. ThrivePoint High School serves students from multiple districts statewide. Not all districts statewide accept the same documentation.
How does self-enrollment work if I am at least 18 years old or an emancipated minor?
Students who are 18 or older must meet ThrivePoint High School’s age eligibility requirements. Students must also submit academic documentation of all courses attempted since entering the ninth grade. A school counselor will review documentation to determine the student's eligibility to complete the program requirements before meeting the age cap for enrollment. Students who cannot complete the program requirements before meeting the age cap for enrollment are not eligible to enroll.
Both emancipated minors and students 18 years and older are required to complete the parent/legal guardian (caretaker) acknowledgment form and provide all required enrollment documentation before the student can enroll. Emancipated minors must also submit court documentation for their emancipation.
Please contact the enrollment team at (702) 381-3146 for more information.
What immunizations are required to enroll in Nevada?
According to the Nevada Department of Health Services, “There are some immunizations required for all students in kindergarten through 12th grade and two that are required once a student turns 11 years of age.”
You can compare the student’s immunization record to Nevada's immunization record requirements.
Where can I get immunizations for my student?
Immunizations can be obtained from doctor’s offices, clinics or hospitals. Pediatricians and family doctors or their nurses or medical assistants can give your student the shots they need to meet the requirements for school enrollment. In addition, some large chain pharmacies offer immunizations for older children and adults.
Student immunization records can also be accessed via the Nevada State Immunization Information System.
What if I need assistance paying for vaccines?
If you need assistance paying for shots/vaccinations, you may be able to get free or reduced immunizations through the Vaccines for Children (VFC) program.
VFC is a federally funded program that provides vaccines at no cost to children who might not otherwise be vaccinated because of an inability to pay. Children who are eligible for VFC vaccines are entitled to receive pediatric vaccines that the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices recommends.
Are there immunization exemptions?
A student may be exempt from immunizations for medical reasons, religious beliefs or personal reasons. All exemptions require a signature and date. Letters must be submitted each year.
According to the state of Nevada, "A child will not be allowed to attend school until either proof of immunization or a completed exemption form is submitted to the school.” The Nevada Department of Health Services “respects the rights of parents to decide whether or not to vaccinate their child.”
